મને “બાયપોલર મુડ ડિસઓર્ડર” નામની બિમારી છે. જેમાં મુડ ખુબ ઉચ્ચ થતા સર્વશક્તિમાન હોવુ એવુ અનુભવાય છે અને મુડ “ડાઉન કે લો” થતા ડિપ્રેશન, હતાશા, નિરાશા કે ઉદાસી અનુભવાય છે. આ મુડમાં થતી વધ-ઘટ એ સામાન્ય લોકોના મુડમાં થતી વધ-ઘટ કરતા ખુબ વધુ (વધુ સારો મુડ- કે વધુ પડતી હતાશા) હોય છે, જેની વ્યક્તિના માનસિક સ્વાસ્થ્ય પર ગંભીર અસર પડે છે.

સમાજમાં આ બિમારી અંગે ખાસ જાગૃતતા નથી આથી દર્દીઓ ઘણી યાતનાઓ અનુભવે છે. મુડ બદલાતા અને વ્યક્તિત્વ બદલાતા તેને ભુવા-બાવા પાસે, દોરા-ધાગા કરાવવામાં આવે છે. આ બિમારીમાં ઇશ્વરીય તાકાત મળી જવી…. કુદરતી શક્તિનો સાક્ષાત્કાર…. હું રાજા છુ જેવા ભ્રામિક વ્યવહાર થાય છે.

જ્યા સુધી મારી વાત છે, મને માનસિક બિમારી ની શરુઆત થઇ એ પહેલા મારા વ્યક્તિત્વમાં કેટલાક ફેરફારો આવવા શરુ થયા હતા, જેમ કે મારી પાડોશી સાથે બોલ-ચાલ થતા સબંધો ખરાબ થઇ ગયા, હું નોકરી પણ નહોતી કરતી, મારી બહેનપણીઓ પણ ઓછી હતી, હું એકાંતમાં રહેવાનુ પસંદ કરતી હતી જાણે મને નકારાત્મકતા ઘેરી વળી હતી એમ કહુ તો પણ કંઇ ખોટુ નથી.

ધીમે-ધીમે હતાશા વધતી ગઇ. અચાનક જ એક રાતે મેં મોટેથી બુમ પાડી “બચાવી લો….. બચાવી લો….” તરત જ એમ લાગ્યુ જાણે હું ફેકાઇ જઇશ. ફ્લેટની આખી બિલ્ડીંમાં સંભળાય તેવી ચીસ હતી. બધા ભેગા થઇ ગયા હતા. મને દિવાલો પર ચિત્ર-વિચિત્ર કાળા ચિત્રો દેખાવા લાગ્યા હતા. શરીરમા જાણે ઝોંટા જેવુ લાગતુ હતુ. બધાને લાગ્યુ કે મને કશુક વળગાડ છે. વળી, મારી નજીકની બહેનપણીએ નાનપણમાં કરેલ આત્મહત્યા નો વિચાર પર જાણે મારી તબિયત પર અસર કરતો હતો. હું આખી રાત જાગી, વાઇ આવતી હતી, આંખુ શરીર ખેંચ અનુભવતુ હતુ. બીજા દિવસે કોઇ ગુરુ એ દોરા-ધાગા કરી આપ્યા. ક્ષણીક રાહાત અનુભવાઇ. પણ માનસિક બિમારી તો ધીમે ધીમે પોતાનુ કામ કરી જ રહી હતી.

મને ખ્યાલ જ ન હતો કે હું જેને સત્ય સમજુ છુ તે મારી સાથેની માનસિક બિમારી છે. મને ઇશ્વરની અનુભુતી થવા લાગી હતી, હું ઇશ્વરની દુત છુ એવો આભાસ થયો. મેં રોડ પર એક વખત માથુ ધુળાવ્યુ- આ મારો ખુબજ લજ્જાસ્પદ સમયગાળૉ હતો. પરતુ હું જાણે માનસિક બિમારીની અસર હેઠળ કંઇક અન્ય દુનિયામાં હતી. અને મારા સ્નેહીઓ દ્વારા મારા આ વર્તન ને વળગાડ જ સમજી લેવામાં આવ્યો. મને એક ભુવા પાસે લઇ જવામાં આવી. મને ખુબ માર પણ પડ્યો. “હું કોણ છુ ?” એ સાચુ બોલવા માટે પણ મારી પાસે જવાબ ન હતો, કે “હું કોણ છુ ?” એ દિવસે મને ખુબ માર પડ્યો હતો.

હું, મારો પરિવાર અને મિત્ર વર્તુળ બધાજ ઉચ્ચ શિક્ષણ પ્રાપ્ત કરેલ છે, છતા તેઓએ મેં બિમારીની અસર હેઠળ કરેલ વર્તનને જાણૅ વળગાડ છે તેમ સમજી લીધુ. મને ભુવા પાસે લઇ ગયા. ખુબ માર પડ્યો. તેઓ જાણે આ પ્રકારની કોઇ બિમારી હોઇ શકે તે વાતથી પણ અજાણ હતા. લોકો આ બિમારી અંગે જાણે અને યોગ્ય સારવાર મેળવી મારી માફક નિર્મલ જીવન જીવી શકે એ ખુબજ જરુરી છે.

આ દરમિયાન મારા પરિવાર અને મિત્રોને ધીમે ધીમે ખ્યાલ આવી ગયો હતો કે આ એક બિમારી છે જેની સારવાર જરુરી છે. ત્યારબાદ મને ખુબજ ખરાબ હાલતમાં હોસ્પિટલ લઇ જવામાં આવી. માનસિક રોગના નિષ્ણાત એવા મનોચિકિત્સક તબીબે મારી સારવાર શરુ કરી. લગભગ ત્રણેક દિવસ સુધી હું તંદ્રામાં જ રહી, ત્યારબાદ ધીમે-ધીમે મારા શરિરમાં રિકવરી આવવા લાગી. હાલ મને આ બિમારી થવા અંગેનુ દુઃખ જરુર છે પરંતુ હું દવાઓના લીધે નોર્મલ જીવન જીવી રહી છુ. આ ઘટનાક્રમ દરમિયાન મારો આત્મવિશ્વાસ ઘટી ગયો હતો જે ધીરે-ધીરે પુનઃપ્રાપ્ત થાય તેવા પ્રયત્નો પણ કરી રહી છુ.અને હાલ તેમા ઘણા અંશે સફળ પણ થઇ છુ.
